Wilton P. Testimonial/Update

“We are settling in. It was quite an adjustment from the rand to the dollar but we are getting used to it. The kids are loving it here and they feel so free. We love the rugby here.  We went to a few matches already and are looking forward to the big game in July when South Africa is playing here.

It was a pleasure to work with you and you went the extra mile with us. Your work definitely paid off and we are grateful for that. We love the beauty of this place.”

Gidion’s smooth entry into New Zealand

This case study demonstrates how even the most complex and high value profiles can be hired online if the application process is done to a high standard.

Gidion’s smooth entry into New Zealand: Gidion excelled as a health and safety manager for a global mining company, overseeing 42,000 employees at 18 sites in six countries. His type of profile requires a complex team fit. The compliance and competency checks for such position and such industry normally requires a lengthy vetting process and face-to-face interviews. We decided to go for the online job searching process, with a fallback option for face-to-face interviews if required. Our planning paid off. Gidion secured a position with a national construction company in New Zealand.

Practical Advice

Are you a top performer without qualifications? Not a problem!

Qualifications requirements often prevent emigration decisions. Without qualifications, many roles are not available to people. However, there is a hack that can be used if you are a top performer in your industry. Top performers have a unique demand profile from the viewpoint of employers. If this is you, give me your CV and let’s have a chat. tate@employmentforimmigration.nz

Gidion Munyaradzi Testimonial

“I will say out of the four companies that interviewed me, the process was successful. And I can confidently say it was successful because of the sessions that you took me through.”

Gidion Munyaradzi
Health, Safety and Environmental Manager

Getting hired online abroad used to be mostly reserved for easy hiring decisions. Top level guys like Gidion normally have to come into NZ and do physical interviews. However, when the system is robust and when people are ready to drive change, anything is possible.

Gidion went from leading cultural change for Anglo American in 18 plants affecting 42k staff in 6 African countries to working for a New Zealand national company througout our country based on his successful online interviews.

Richard and Buanka Williamson Testimonial

Our Journey to New Zealand

It has been such a pleasure having Tate as our adviser, he stayed with us since day one.

He guided Richard with the entire job finding process and helped us to create a killer Resume and video CV that stood out a lot and caught the eye of many employers.

There were so many times that we felt so much frustration and thought that we might never make it, but each time we looked at our emails and we saw a message from Tate, we were motivate again and didnโ€™t gave up hope. We continued with our job searching, knowing that the right employer will come.

The amount of faith he had in us was just amazing. We are so thankful for his services and motivation! This has kept us positive and encouraged.

It has been a pleasure working with Richard and Buanka. I saw them experience many setbacks and each time, I saw them get up and go back into the game, just like two sports stars. When they won, I celebrated with them.

I am grateful for their testimonial but I should say that a coach doesn’t deserve the same credit as the players. My role is on the sidelines assisting and suggesting strategies. The real winners are the ones scoring points. Welcome to New Zealand Richard and Buanka! You are the winning team and you have a new hometown now.

Andries and Nilene Lotter Testimonial

“It’s actually you that helped us a lot. We weren’t able to do any of this without you, without your guidance and you giving us the tools… Yeah, our approach was totally… how can I say… wrong. And we thought, actually, everything that we were doing was really right, but till you came on the picture, and you guide us through this whole process, and then eventually we find out that the things that we are doing were wrong. And then eventually, you know, all these emails that we communicated together (all your support…) and yeah… it helped us! It helped us extremely a lot. ย You combined us with the CV that stood out from everybody else and everything – all the years combined in two pages… So, yeah… we couldn’t have done this without you!”

Practical Advice

Partners – Get your work visa before April 2023!

Changes to the partner work visa coming in April 2023.

In the past, partners of primary visa holders were given an open work visa. In April, this privilege will be taken away according to Immigration New Zealand.

Why is this change happening?

โ€œThe number of partners of temporary migrant workers coming to New Zealand grew significantly in the years prior to COVID-19… While partners of temporary migrant workers work in a variety of roles across New Zealand, they tend to be concentrated in lower-paying sectors… [I]t is important that we ensure the integrity of the system by recruiting for genuine skill shortages for both the primary applicant and their partners.”

What are some options to consider?

  1. Get the work visa before April 2023
  2. Or consider up-skilling
  3. Or plan on one breadwinner for the family for a while, perhaps until residency is received. Rules won’t be announced until February 2023 (according to the link above)
